Claiming Your Unclaimed Property

1. NCCash Match

With NCCash Match, unclaimed property owners do not need to take action to receive their money. This program was implemented to make it easier for unclaimed property owners claim their cash. We will research our database and identify qualifying claims of $5,000 or less, and send a notification letter to verified claimants. A check will follow in 6-8 weeks. Treasurer Folwell talks about how we are returning money through the NCCash Match Program in this video.

2. E-Claim Processing

Some claims generated through our website may be eligible for E-Claim Processing when certain criteria are met. E-Claim Processing attempts to electronically match claimant information with the property owner information we have in our database. If your claim is NOT eligible for E-Claim Processing, you will be prompted to print, sign and submit your claim form by clicking on "Claim Document Upload” below, or by mail along with the required documentation.

3. Claim proof through submitted documentation

If your claim requires a signed claim form and supporting documentation, it may be submitted through Claim Document Upload, or by mail.  Upon receipt of all required documentation, we will begin processing your claim. Normal processing time is approximately 90 days. You may check the progress of your claim by clicking on "Claim Status" below.
